New Office Open in Chesapeake for Pediatric and Adult Eye Exams

Our new office is open in Chesapeake, Virginia!

Offering pediatric eye exams and adult eye exams, our new Chesapeake office is conveniently located in the Greenbrier area near I-64.  Appointments can be scheduled in the freshly renovated space with one of our ophthalmologists, Dr. Crouch or Dr. Bejarano, or with one of our optometrists, Dr. Martinson or Dr. Kun. This brand new office has a pediatric optical shop with a wide selection of glasses, and is even larger than the optical shop in our Virginia Beach office. We welcome patients to schedule a back-to-school eye exam or stop by and check out the glasses selection!

Telehealth Appointments

Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) developments and our concern for the health and safety of our patients and staff, Virginia Pediatric Eye Center has developed a virtual visit alternative to in-person office visits. We remain dedicated to providing care for our patients and community during this challenging time. We will continue to see patients in our office who require an in-person exam or treatment, while taking every precaution to keep patients and staff safe.

If interested in the telehealth option, please review the telehealth visit information.

April is Sports Eye Safety Month!

According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, up to 30,000 sports-related injuries are treated in the U.S. each year. Most injuries are preventable with protective eyewear. Protective eyewear consists of polycarbonate lenses which will not splinter when impacted by an external force. Proper eyewear for sports will be rated by ASTM, the American Society for Testing and Materials and have the ASTM rating located on the frame or lenses. All sports goggles offered by Virginia Pediatric Eye Center are ASTM certified and highly recommended if your child participates in any sports. Keeping your child’s eyes safe and protected is our priority!

Field trip!

Virginia Pediatric Eye Center was pleased to welcome first and second grade students of the Virginia Beach School of the Arts Homeschool Co-op to our clinic this past Friday. Dr. Adrian Kun had lots of fun with the students while explaining the profession of Optometry and presenting the Anatomy of the Eye. Students also tried on lots of cool glasses and explored our Optical shop with Dr. Kun and our Optician, Charmaine. VPEC is always happy to offer educational opportunities to the community that promote eye health awareness!

VPEC Team Highlight: Gloria

This month we are highlighting Gloria, a very important voice in our medical practice. Gloria is a Veteran who served our country faithfully and now plays an important role as our Call Center Representative. Her favorite part of working at Virginia Pediatric Eye Center is being a part of a team that has a great commitment to excellence. A fun fact about Gloria is that she owns over 50 Hello Kitty plushies. Her favorite color is pink and she readily admits it is a toss up between her two favorite sports teams, the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints. If she could only eat one food the rest of her life, it would be good pizza!
