Virginia Pediatric Eye Center is looking for qualified applicants who enjoy working with children and have 2-3 years experience working as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Ophthalmic Techs.
Knowledge of exam flow, contact lenses and specialty testing, such as visual fields, OCT and imaging are a plus. COA or COT credentials a plus. Applicants should have knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and terminology, experience working up patients, ability to establish rapport with children and their parents, good communication and computer skills, experience using EMR’s, and a strong work ethic. Experience scheduling in Allscripts PM is a plus.
Position is full-time Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am- 5:30pm and up to two Saturdays per month.
Salary is dependent upon experience. Benefits include paid vacation, 401K, and health/dental insurance.
Virginia Pediatric Eye Center is seeking an experienced Medical Biller.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Posting charges and payments.
- Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments and procedures.
- Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frame.
- Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
- Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
- Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Reviewing accounts for insurance of patient follow-up.
- Researching and appealing denied claims.
- Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts
- Working aged receivables
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in medical billing required
- Adherence to laws and best practices in regards to dealing with customers and data
- Must be comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial
- information
- Results-driven and patient
- Must have a high degree of attention to detail and trustworthiness
- Optometry and Ophthalmology billing experience preferred
- Qualified candidates must understand insurance carrier rules and edits, as well as possess good customer service skills
- Experience using Allscripts PM is a plus.
